I notice on your blog that you have lots of information on unique link building strategies. Can you tell us more about that?
Link building is the process of getting other websites to link to yours which in turn, tells the search engines that your website is important so that they will rank you higher in Google. My blog tells webmasters how to build links to get more search engine traffic organically and artificially.
Whats your background Collin? How did you get started in online marketing?
I got started by accident back in high school when I made a website to be a web proxy so that my friends and I could get on blocked sites like Myspace (back in the day), and put adsense advertisements on the site to pay for the hosting. I realized there was a lot of potential to make money online after the site went viral and I made over $800 with it and sold the site for a quick four figure sum.
If you could give us 3 golden nuggets of wisdom on how to make money from blogs, what would they be?
Write content that provides value to your readers, and then build links to your content. Good content, lots of relevant links, and a little bit of time is all that is needed to make money from a blog (or any other site).
I noticed that you removed your ads from your blog. Whats the rationale for this? Were they not making you money?
I make the majority of my money off my consulting and other websites that are not in the “blogging tips” niche. My link building blog is something that I want purely to be about content, and not to make money from.
What are your words of advice for the brand new blogger out there?
Guest posting on other bigger blogs can get your name out there very quickly.
